About BSF

Dancers stretching
Dancers with hands on the heart

Bailando Sin Fronteras was created to expand what feels possible for dancers in the Rio Grande Valley.

For many students in our region, pursuing dance beyond high school can feel unclear, out of reach, or unsupported. Information about college programs, auditions, and career pathways isn’t always accessible, and too often, talented dancers are left to navigate the process on their own.

BSF exists to change that.

Through mentorship, training, and community-centered programming, BSF provides dancers and families with the tools, guidance, and access needed to pursue higher dance education with clarity and confidence. From early exposure to structured college preparation, each program is designed to meet dancers where they are and support their growth over time.

At its core, BSF is about more than college acceptance. It’s about shifting narratives, building connections, and creating a pathway for RGV dancers to step into spaces they belong in without having to navigate it alone

Hi, I’m Layzabeth Gonzalez, a first-generation dancer from Brownsville, Texas.

When I was navigating the college application process as a dancer, I remember how confusing and overwhelming it felt. I didn’t have clear guidance, and I often felt like I was figuring everything out on my own, especially while trying to pursue a degree in dance.

I went on to earn my BFA in Dance from Sam Houston State University, and along the way, I trained and worked with nationally recognized institutions including Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Ballet Hispánico. Those experiences expanded my understanding of what was possible in the dance field, but they also made me realize how much access and information had been missing earlier in my journey.

I created Bailando Sin Fronteras to help bridge that gap.

BSF is rooted in the belief that talent exists everywhere, and that dancers from the Rio Grande Valley deserve access to the same opportunities, knowledge, and support as anywhere else. Through this work, I hope to support the next generation of dancers as they pursue their goals, build their artistry, and take their place in the broader dance community.
